Curtis Smith

Software Engineer

June 2019-Oct 2020

My internship at Hewlett Packard Enterprise was an amazing learning experience. I received hands on experience with industry leading hardware and software. This experience taught me how to install, configure, and troubleshoot network switches, servers, and storage systems. In addition to the day to day data center operations, I was also allowed to assist the instructors with content delivery and design software tools ranging from simple Microsoft Visio scripts to full blown web applications.

Summary of Accomplishments:

  • Developed a change management web application for tracking changes using Laravel's framework
  • Setup and configured an Instructor Demonstration rack for HPE's Primera Storage Solution
  • Learned about ProLiant, Simplivity, 3Par, Primera, Nimble, VMWare, and VEEAM systems
  • Supported and maintained cloud learning environments using tools such as VMWare

Sept 2009-March 2018

I fulfilled two positions while working for InfoPro Corporation. The first was as an Instructor at the Navy's Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school. This was an extremely rewarding position because I knew the knowledge I was imparting on the troops could not only save their lives but also allow them to save others. The second position was as an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) technician on Eglin Air Force Base. Here I assisted and supported testing of most new explosive weaponry that our troops would use world wide. The weaponry testing was extremely diverse ranging anywhere from testing propellant composition of small arms ammunition, conducting new explosive characteristics testing, to connecting a few dozen rockets to a 2000 pound bomb and sending it through simulated buildings and bunkers to optimize warhead performance.

Summary of Accomplishments:

  • Delivered over 200 classes in identification and procedures for grenades, rockets, projectiles, and landmines
  • Taught Explosive Ordnance Disposal troops from over 12 different nations
  • Developed and maintained curriculum for classroom, practical, and testing areas
  • Supported testing of next generation weapons for Air Force Research Laboratories
  • Advised researchers on testing methodologies and data acquisition for explosive article testing
  • Maintained a Class B CDL with HAZMAT endorsement and specialized in shipping requirements and transporting explosive articles

The missions after training included supporting range operations, supporting local bomb squads, protecting both United States and foreign dignitaries, and deploying to combat zones around the world.

Summary of Accomplishments:

  • Honorable discharged at the grade/rank of E-5/SGT
  • 1 Combat deployment to Iraq (2007-2008)
  • Maintained Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Support over 50 Secret Service mission protect U.S. and foreign dignitaries including the President of the United States
  • Conducted over 75 state side missions supporting range operations, law enforcement agencies, and bomb squads
